Michael Pinkus Wine Review

Steve Byfield adds 7% of Syrah into what is primarily a Bordeaux blend (Cabernet Franc 37% / Merlot 29% / Cabernet Sauvignon 27%) in this wine, potentially his best Cadence effort to date.  Nose kicks things off with licorice, herbal, cassis, vanilla, cinnamon and red fruit – if you open this early (next 1-2 years) you’ll want to decant to avoid the overtly woodsy element … but after that the dark fruit, spicy-peppery, red berries and licorice will all shine through amongst those robust tannins.
